Summary of Work Permitted at Taylor Point
under CRMC Assent No. A2017-06-061, Sept 5, 2017
1. Removal of these ten invasive species anywhere at Taylor Point:
Wineberry Bittersweet Nightshade
Japanese Barberry Poreclain-berry
Glossy Buckthorn Japanese Knotweed
Oriental Bittersweet Garlic Mustard
Black Swallowwort Chinese Silvergrass
2. On Potter Cove Beach, remove invasives and revegetate with natives in 3 test areas:
a. Plot A, in subsec 1c (Upper Beach) and 1g (Parking Area): remove Morrow Honeysuckle, Phragmites, Black Swallowwort, Rugosa Rose, Gray Willow, and Poison Ivy. Plant native grasses, Seaside Goldenrod, and Virginia Rose.
b. Plot B, in subsec 1c (Upper Beach): remove Morrow Honeysuckle, Phragmites, Black Swallowwort; cut Rugosa Rose to ground level repeatedly. Keep Seaside Goldenrod, Virginia Creeper, Salt-hay Grass. Plant additional natives as required.
c. Plot C, in subsec 1c (Upper Beach): remove Morrow Honeysuckle, Phragmites, Black Swallowwort, and Poison Ivy; cut Rugosa Rose to ground level repeatedly. Plant Northern Bayberry and other specified natives.
3. Subsec 2a (Northwest Shrubland) and 2d (Successional Field): Remove Greenbrier and Grape. Remove Morrow Honeysuckle and immature English Oak. Plant native shrubs if required.
4. Subsec 2f (Upper Parking Area): Remove Greenbrier, Grape, Morrow and Japanese Honeysuckle, and immature English Oak. Remove ornamentals. Replace with native shrubs.
5. Subsec 3a, 3b, 3c (Black Cherry Woodland): Remove Morrow Honeysuckle, Oriental Bittersweet, Japanese Honeysuckle; Remove Greenbrier and Fox Grape that are smothering native trees and shrubs. Protect native vegetation; plant native trees and shrubs as required.
